You'll need a Spiral Notebook with 3 sections, envelope type of
Get a 3-5 Subject Notebook with pockets as many pages as you can find. *this isn't the one I use but it's the closest I could find. I use Mead with a heavier pocket. It's the best one I've seen out there so it's my personal preference. To get started grab the one above. Later find one with a good sturdy pocket for holding your notes, ideas written on napkins, and anything else you feel should go into the pockets. You may want to go ahead and tape the corners and edges of the pockets for more secure hold. I do this on mine also because these are my thoughts and I don't want to loose them.
Grab your pen and notebook and dive in:
Ask yourself and write down physically, in the notebook.
* While you're checking out these creators, remember they are building something with their hands, minds, ideas and time. What do you see they're not seeing?

What does the above have to do with the below?
Well take a look at some of the information on the link above. Do you have gifts and talents, skills or a creative flow that could somehow fit?
The general idea is to be creative and find ways to help other people as well as help yourself and family in some way.
If you're just completely unsure ask yourself:
"What do I know that I can help people with: ____________________ ?"
If you're a cowboy, there's cowboyin' stuff you can teach. Everything from cooking outdoors, to tying knots and putting new shoes on that old mare.
Don't forget about bailing hay, birthing babies, chicks and ducks, and problems with gardening and bugs. Your information can help so many.
The online world has yet to see all the survival information, canning, building, gardening and keeping water clean but there are some folks out there that can do all of that. Those that can't do any of it can learn from those that can.
In some places around the world, people may not have an income, but they trade what they do have, to pay for what is needed. People have been 'trading' items and services for many years.
There are groups of farmers around the world fighting desertification and using rainwater to help rebuild the deserts around their fields.
Their water ideas and investments have been found profitable. Though this link only gives one method there are many viable sources.
"Who Brought the Waters?"
The farmers in parts of India are learning water economics through harvesting as well as putting back into dried out wells, and desolate land.
Raghunath, India is teaching people how to make ponds for new harvests and some as much as 95% success. Some families are able to use the water again and life is changing for a once desolate water supply and land.
Rainwater Economics - How it works
Bhagirath Krishak Abhiyan was awarded Water Conservation for Food Security I can't remember offhand all the details but I have to share it just the same__ as one of the three finalists for:

He's helping to shape the future for generations of people.
If you are a crafter and can find ways to work along the lines of what this man is doing, it's possible there is a market for that and you'll be able to add those type of products to etsy as well.
How Does Water Harvesting and Crafting Go Together?
He took what he knew and he did something with that knowledge - that's it.
This information he needed to learn along with the obstacles made a difference in his community and the world.
